Selection Process

Completed applications are due to College Now by the posted traditional scholarship deadline each year. College Now staff will review scholarship candidates and will narrow the candidates down to the highest rated finalists. Final selections will be made by a scholarship committee consisting of East High School Alumni Association (of Cleveland Ohio) members and College Now staff members utilizing the eligibility requirements above and based on available dollars as determined by the annual investment draw. College Now staff must have at least one more member on the selection committee than the East High Alumni Association. One student each year will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship.

These scholarships will be renewable for up to three additional years, provided that the student:

  • maintains full-time status (12 credits per semester or 24 per year) at college or university;

  • earns a 2.0 cumulative grade point average; and

  • participates in College Now’s mentoring program

  • Completes the renewal application and submits it by the deadline (https://collegenowgc.org/find-scholarships/

EHSAA Scholarship Committee Report

Scholarship Report
Part of the mission of the East High Alumni Association is “provide scholarships for college/post high school education to graduated Cleveland Metropolitan School District students.” In our over one hundred year history, we have never wavered from that commitment. Even though we no longer have a brick and mortar building, we still focus our fund raising efforts on raising money for scholarships.

As many of you know, our alumni association has joined with College Now to administer our scholarship program. They have college counseling representatives in all the Cleveland Metropolitan Schools. As a result of our collaborative efforts with them, we now have two scholarship recipients. Joy Johnson is a junior at Otterbein University and finished the fall semester with a 3.30 GPA. Brooklyn Flanagan is a freshman at Ohio State University and finished the fall semester with a 2.93 GPA. They have personal updates on their college experiences on the "Recipient Update" section.
